Text by Marie & Greg O'Kane

On March 5th, Marie and I took a taxi from our hotel in Lima at 8:00 AM and after an hour and a half ride, we arrived at the home of our friend, Father Gerry Desmond.

Gerry has a parish of 90,000 families, eight churches, two assistant priests and a deacon. After lunch, we went to visit his parish, which is all on the side of a mountain. We saw a lot of poverty and met a lot of welcoming people. We visited three of the churhes and Sister Regina who is co-ordinating a program buildng bathrooms for some of the families.

We stayed with Gerry until 8:00 PM and got a taxi back to the hotel. WHAT A GREAT DAY AND A HUMBLING EXPERIENCE!
